Basic Function
Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately if a need arises, without waiting for a new advertisement. Applications remain active for up to two years and may be contacted by department supervisors, deans, or division chairs.

Kern Community College District is seeking part-time, hourly adjunct instructors for the  academic years. The starting salary is $60.00/hour, with potential variation based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For details, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office.

Representative Duties
The successful applicant will provide disability-related counseling or guidance to students with disabilities, and may teach courses on college success and career search strategies, depending on background and institutional needs. Duties may include counseling and teaching at various campus sites, during different times (day, evening, weekends), in large classes, via distance learning, developing curricula, utilizing multimedia technology, and participating in professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a master's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in rehabilitation counseling, or in special education with coursework in counseling, guidance, or social work; or a master's degree in related fields with specific coursework or experience in counseling students with disabilities. Candidates with equivalent qualifications may request an evaluation by submitting an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form with supporting documents.

Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of community college students.

Knowledge & Abilities
Candidates should demonstrate broad knowledge in the discipline and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and students of diverse skills, motivations, and goals. Skills include curriculum development, recruitment, communication, staying current in subject matter, assessing student outcomes, and familiarity with technology.
