Job OverviewThe Kern Community College District is accepting applications to its part‑time, hourly faculty pool. Qualified applicants who meet the minimum requirements may be contacted immediately if a need arises within the department. Applications remain active for up to two years.
Responsibilities & Knowledge & Abilities- Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
- Work effectively with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
- Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
- Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain subject matter currency.
- Assess student learning outcomes.
- Use computers and explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
- Bachelor’s degree AND 2 years of related professional experience; OR
- Associate’s degree AND 6 years of related professional experience AND BLS Instructor certification from the American Heart Association (proof of certification required).
- Professional experience is required if the applicant holds a master’s degree. The experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
- Equivalent qualifications may be considered. Candidates should submit an Application for Equivalence form with supporting documents.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds.
- Degrees must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a NACES or ACEI service.
