Physics Instructor – Part‑time Adjunct Pool (IWV)
Inside Higher Ed invites applications for the part‑time adjunct instructor position in the Science department at Kern Community College District. The role offers an hourly rate of $67.00, with applications remaining active for up to two years.
Basic Function
Teaching physics and astronomy courses across multiple formats — day, evening, weekend, large classes, and distance learning.
Representative Duties
- Provide instruction in a full range of Physics/Astronomy courses.
- Teach at various campus sites and across different class schedules.
- Engage in student recruitment and articulation programming for the Science department.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency and develop or revise curriculum.
- Utilize computer and multimedia technology to support diverse learning modalities.
- Participate collegially in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics; or
- Bachelor’s degree in physics or astronomy and Master’s in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics; or
- Equivalents that meet the collective bargaining agreement (submission of an Application for Equivalence required).
Applicants must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds. Degrees must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406).
