Basic FunctionThis is for an adjunct pool that will be used to staff part‑time adjunct positions. Kern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. The starting salary range is $66.00/hour; the hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For more information, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office.
Responsibilities- Prepare and deliver undergraduate curriculum in political science, government, or international relations.
- Utilize a variety of teaching modalities including in‑person, online, and hybrid instruction.
- Assess student learning outcomes and offer constructive feedback.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency and employ technology to enhance learning.
- Participate in recruitment, articulation, and outreach activities with local schools and colleges.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote an inclusive, diverse learning environment.
- Master’s in political science, government, or international relations.
- OR bachelor's in the above fields AND master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, ethnic studies, or a Juris Doctor/J.L.B. degree.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic student backgrounds.
- Degree from an accredited institution; foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized credential‑evaluation service.
- Relevant experience or accomplishments equivalent to the stated qualifications may be considered. Submit an Application for Equivalency form with supporting documents.
- Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an innovative teaching environment.
- Work with students of diverse skills, motivations, and goals.
- Develop and adapt curriculum delivered via different modalities.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency.
- Assess student learning outcomes.
- Use computers and explore new technologies that benefit the program.
- Commit to the California community college mission.
