Basic Function
Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Applications remain active for up to two years. The starting salary range is $67.00/hour; hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.
Representative Duties
- Provide instruction in a full range of French courses, including Elementary French and Intermediate French, as institutional needs dictate.
- Participate in student recruitment, articulation of programs, maintain subject matter currency, develop and revise curriculum.
- Use computer and multimedia technology; assess student learning and program level outcomes; participate collegially in department and professional activities.
- Teach using multiple methodologies and at various campus sites; offer day, evening, or weekend classes; handle large, distance learning, and incarcerated student classes.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's in French.
- OR Bachelor's in French AND Master’s in another language or linguistics.
- OR equivalent education, experience, and accomplishments; submit an application for equivalence form.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
All degrees must be from accredited institutions. Degrees from outside the United States must be evaluated by an accredited evaluation service.
Screening is by a committee; meeting minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview.
