Responsibilities- Provide instruction in a full range of Emergency Medical Technologies courses.
- Teach across campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend sessions, large classrooms, and distance learning, utilizing multiple teaching methodologies.
- Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Public Services department.
- Maintain subject matter currency and develop and revise curriculum.
- Use computer and multimedia technology to enhance learning.
- Engage collegially in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
- Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of work experience.
- Associate’s degree and at least six years of work experience.
- Valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Emergency Medical Technology at the California Community College level.
- Equivalent combination of education, experience, and accomplishments; applicants with such equivalency must submit an Application for Equivalence and supporting documents.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Degrees and credits from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). International degrees must be evaluated by an NACES or ACEI member service.
- Screening will be conducted by a committee that may limit the number of interviews awarded; meeting the minimum does not guarantee an interview.
- Physician, Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Paramedic currently licensed in California; or
- Advanced EMT or EMT certified in California.
- At least two years of academic or clinical experience in emergency medicine or prehospital care within the last five years.
- Approval by the program director and program clinical coordinator as qualified to teach the assigned topics.
- Work effectively with colleagues in an innovative, student‑centered environment.
- Engage students with diverse skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
- Develop and deliver curriculum across multiple modalities.
- Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain subject‑matter currency and assess student learning outcomes.
- Proficiency with computers and willingness to adopt new educational technologies.
- Commitment to the California community college mission.
