Basic Function

This position is for applicants wishing to join a part‑time, hourly adjunct pool. The district accepts applications on a continuous basis so that qualified candidates can be contacted promptly when a need arises. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted by department supervisors, deans, or division chairs.
Applications submitted will remain active for up to two years. The starting salary range is $60.00/hour; the hourly rate may vary based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.

Representative Duties

To staff part‑time adjunct positions as needed within the department.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in one of the following: counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling.
  • Alternatively, a bachelor's degree in one of the listed fields and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is acceptable.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments may be considered; candidates with equivalent qualifications must submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form with supporting documents.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • All degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions; foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation service.
  • The screening committee reserves the right to limit interviews; meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview.

  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
  • Ability to effectively work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
  • Ability to develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
  • Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain subject‑matter currency.
  • Ability to assess student learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
