Note: Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. If there is interest and/or need within the department, qualified applicants will be contacted by department supervisors, deans and/or division chairs. Applications submitted will remain active for up to two years. Starting salary range is $67.00/hour; hourly rate may vary based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.
RepresentativeDuties
- This is for an adjunct pool to staff part-time adjunct positions.
- Candidates may be placed at BC locations including:
Main Campus, Delano Campus, Arvin (hub and High School), McFarland (Adult Learning Center and High School), Shafter (Shafter Learning Center and High School), Southwest Campus.
- Master’s in anthropology or archaeology
- OR Bachelor’s in either of the above AND Master’s in sociology, biological sciences, forensic sciences, genetics or paleontology
- OR the equivalent
- Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments may be judged as equal to the minimum qualifications. Applicants claiming equivalence must submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form with supporting documents.
- A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students.
- Broad knowledge in the discipline with the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Ability to work with students with a wide range of skills and goals.
- Ability to develop curriculum, including modalities delivered via different formats.
- Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities.
- Effective oral and written communication; ability to assess student learning outcomes.
- Maintain subject matter currency; willingness to explore new technologies.
- Commitment to the California community college mission.
