: CSU Bakersfield, founded in 1970, is a regional, comprehensive university serving the southern San Joaquin Valley of California. CSU Bakersfield’s service area covers nearly 25,000 square miles and is home to a socially and ethnically diverse population. CSU Bakersfield is the only four-year degree granting institution within a 100-mile radius. College Information: The College of Business and Public Administration (BPA) offers a variety of degrees which prepares tomorrow’s business and community leaders. The areas include BS in Business Administration (BSBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), BA in Public Administration (BAPA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), MS in Health Care Administration (MS-HCA), Master of Science in Administration, BS in Economics, BS in Environmental Resource Management, and BS in Agricultural Business.

The business degrees offer a breadth of focused concentrations. The BSBA, MBA, and BS in Economics programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and the MPA program is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration

(NASPAA). Research is strongly supported by the College through workload adjustments and professional development funding, but the primary focus of the College is on student success Most programs and concentrations are supported through the activities of associated student organizations and advisory groups. The College has an increasing focus on student success and has made impressive progress in terms of retention and graduation rates.

Department Information
:
The Department of Economics is housed within the College of Business and Public Administration. The department offers three degrees: a BS in Economics along with BS degrees in Agricultural Business and Environmental Resource Management. Many graduates take positions in businesses across a range of sectors, including agriculture, banking, energy, finance, insurance, real estate, and retail trade. Other graduates pursue careers in diplomacy, government, law, and non‑profits.

In addition, the economics major is excellent preparation for students interested in MBA, MPA, and other graduate programs, including economics.
