Teacher’s Aide

Job Classification: Hourly non-exempt

Job Goal: The primary job goal of a teacher's aide is to support the teacher in managing the classroom while facilitating student learning and development.

Responsibilities:

• Review learning material with students, either individually or in small groups, to help reinforce lessons presented by teachers
• Supervise students in class, during lunch, playtime, and at special events, like field trips
• Aid in teaching appropriate behavior and social skills to students
• Assist in enforcing center and classroom rules
• Assist with record keeping, such as student progress notes
• Help teachers prepare for lessons by assembling materials and equipment
• Provide personal aid and care as necessary to students, such as help with hygiene, first aid, eating or toileting, for example

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Must be 18 or older
• 6+ months of prior experience working in a licensed childcare center or comparable group childcare program
• 6 completed units of early childhood education (Preferred)

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift-up to 50lbs
• Ability to handle stress and focus during distractions
• Ability to grasp, bend, twist, sit, squat, and stand for long periods of time
• Repetitive use of hands, elbow, knees, and feet.
• Have good eyesight with or without reasonable accommodation
