What You Will Be Doing- Perform field investigations for geotechnical projects under senior guidance.
- Schedule and execute field work: drilling, sampling, reconnaissance, soil/rock logging.
- Conduct engineering analyses using hand calculations and computer-based tools.
- Perform construction observation services under senior direction:
- Observe/document geotechnical construction activities.
- Conduct in-situ density testing of engineered fill.
- Perform testing and observation for various geotechnical construction tasks.
- Conduct Special Inspections as required by local jurisdictions.
- Assist in preparing technical reports: write sections, prepare tables/figures, coordinate with drafting teams.
- Engage in geotechnical engineering assessments and designs such as:
- Shallow & deep foundations
- Earth retaining structures
- Liquefaction and geotechnical hazard evaluations
- Dams, tunnels, roads, grading, slope stability, etc.
- Perform analyses including:
- Slope stability
- Liquefaction potential
- Allowable bearing capacity
- Foundation settlement
- Pile foundation design
- Perform other engineering duties as assigned.
- Experience with Aggregates, Asphalt, Concrete, Soils (ASTM, C-DOT procedures)
- Experience with Special Inspections and Material Testing (ICC Certificate in Soils, Masonry, Reinforced Concrete, and Structural Steel and Bolting) is highly valued.
- Solid understanding of soil mechanics.
- Quick learner, enthusiastic, proactive, and responsive.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Willingness to travel and work in different site conditions.
- Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to understand task objectives and how they relate to overall project goals.
- Experience as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE).
- ICC Certifications (Soils, Masonry, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel & Bolting)
- Experience with Special Inspections
- Technical report writing experience
- Exposure to pipelines, mining, transportation, land development, solid waste projects
