American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a fast-paced Med/Surg Tele unit requiring a CA RN license and at least 3 years of experience.

• Acute care Med/Surg/Tele mixed unit with 39 beds (37 private, 1 semi-private)
• Fast-paced environment with high admissions and discharges due to surgical volume
• Patient ratios of 1:4 for tele patients and 1:5 for Med/Surg patients, with possible mixed assignments
• Common diagnoses include acute/chronic medical conditions, post-surgical patients (including bariatric and total joint), and stroke patients
• Manages non-titratable drips and set rate drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin)
• Uses Philips telemetry monitoring equipment and must be able to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms
• Cerner EMR experience preferred; floor orientation may be reduced with recent Cerner experience
• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00-7:30 with strict attendance expectations and AM huddle
• Every other weekend requirement with 4 shifts out of a 4-week schedule (Fri/Sat and Sat/Sun for day shifts)
• Travelers are first to float, potentially between sister facilities under the same license, to other Med/Surg/Tele units, ICU for Med/Surg patients, or ER for Med/Surg Tele holds
• House supervisor in house 24/7, plus Nurse Manager, Nurse Shift Managers, Charge Nurse, and Break Nurse coverage
• RT and Pharmacy available 24/7 with Omnicell system
• Hospitalist/Intensivist on call after hours

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred, recent experience may allow comp-testing out of training
• Must be comfortable caring for bariatric and total joint post-surgical populations
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

• Provide direct patient care across a mixed Med/Surg and Telemetry population
• Floor-specific orientation typically 1-2 shifts, up to 3 depending on Cerner experience
• Navy blue scrubs required; undershirts under scrub tops must be navy, white, or black
• Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday per the facility's holiday rotation
• Warm and welcoming staff culture despite high-paced, high-turnover environment
• Strict attendance policy enforced
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Patient safety is strictly enforced with zero tolerance for compromising issues
