Job Description

Job Summary

The Well Service USC – Well Service Field Maintenance Technician performs critical repairs of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical rig equipment and systems in the field.

Schedule and Compensation

  • The schedule is 5 X 2, including on-call nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • The pay range for this position in CAWS is $33.00 - $40.00 per hour.

Location

Position is located in Bakersfield, California.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Work safely, maintaining a healthy and environmentally protective environment.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Report and correct unsafe work practices and hazards.
  • Inspect rig equipment to identify potential issues before they cause downtime or costly repairs.
  • Assist and perform tasks as instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor and rig customers.
  • Work long hours and weekends on short notice when requested.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Group to minimize rig downtime and optimize system performance.
  • Train and instruct rig crews on maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in training and developing junior maintenance technicians.
  • Attend operations training up to twice a year, with up to five days per training.
  • Participate in and promote all safety programs and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.
  • Understand and read all safety and training materials.
  • Understand major rig components and their maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Maintain familiarity with top drives, iron roughnecks, iron derrick men, PLCs, and VFDs.
  • Understand three-phase electrical generation, controls, and power systems.
  • Work according to electrical, hydraulic, and workplace safety standards.
  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of colleagues.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, customers, OEMs, and suppliers.
  • Continue learning to improve skills and understanding of maintenance operations.
  • Be a team player and share knowledge to help others develop.
