Qualifications
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in the skilled carpentry trade.
  • Ability to apply those principles in a variety of rough and finished carpentry work; work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints; keep records; use tools skillfully; follow written and oral directions; maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the work.
  • Ability to build shelves, cabinets, stairways, closets, bulletin boards, and tables; install doors, chalkboards, cases, locks, trim, and acoustical ceilings; repair floors, walls, doors, gates, and fences; maintain tools safely; keep records and order supplies; work from plans and specifications; perform related duties such as assisting locksmiths and welders.
  • Minimum of three years experience as a craftsman in the carpenter trade; read, write, and perform math calculations at a level necessary for the position.
  • Valid California driver’s license and a current DMV driving record (required prior to employment).
  • Will be trained and responsible for the district’s needs regarding asbestos, lead paint, and hazardous materials.
  • Criminal history check and pre‑employment medical assessment required prior to employment.
  • Ability to pass a written examination required for all qualified applicants.
Duties of Position

Under general supervision, perform skilled carpentry work on school buildings and facilities; perform related duties as assigned.

Compensation and Work Schedule

Starting salary: $6,862.38 monthly.

Number of months: 12 (to begin as soon as possible).

Number of hours: 8 daily; working hours 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
