Job OverviewWe are looking for a skilled and dependable Auto/Diesel and Facility Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair both our fleet and facilities. This position plays a critical role in keeping our vehicles, trailers, and equipment running efficiently while ensuring our shop and branch facilities remain safe, clean, and operational.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, be comfortable working independently, and demonstrate a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and repairs.
Responsibilities- Fleet & Equipment Maintenance:
Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements. - Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
- Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
- Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems.
- Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components.
- Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.
- Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users.
- Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g., repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles etc.).
- Keep logs of work and report on issues.
- Perform general facility repairs including basic plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting, and carpentry tasks.
- Maintain and service shop tools, compressors, and other building systems.
- Inspect and repair doors, windows, flooring, and fixtures as needed.
- Ensure exterior areas (e.g., yard, parking lot, loading areas) are clean, safe, and properly maintained.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests or facility-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Assist with seasonal maintenance.
- Keep the shop, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Support special projects or facility improvements as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma is preferred; certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus.
- Proven experience as a mechanic.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Diesel engine repair: 1 year (Preferred).
- Facility or equipment maintenance experience (Preferred).
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of systems.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and building maintenance.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, manuals, and blueprints.
