Job Description

Position Summary:
The Student Nursing Assistant provides basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse while actively enrolled in a state-approved nursing assistant training program. This position is designed to offer hands-on clinical experience while reinforcing classroom learning, preparing the student for successful completion of the certification process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.

• Measure and record vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output as directed.

• Provide comfort measures, including positioning, mobility assistance, and use of adaptive devices.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas.

• Respond promptly to call lights and patient needs.

• Communicate observations of changes in a patient’s condition to the supervising nurse.

• Assist with transporting patients within the facility.

• Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.

• Uphold confidentiality and respect patient rights in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies.

• Participate in training and evaluations as part of the nursing assistant program requirements.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a state-approved Nursing Assistant training program.

• Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and staff.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Basic understanding of medical terminology and patient care practices (preferred).

• Physical ability to lift, move, and position patients and equipment.
