Position Type: Support Staff/ Music Assistant.

Work Period: School Year. 10 classes / 7 hours per week, September through June, rotating schedule.

Starting Date: As soon as possible.

Closing Date: Until filled.

Salary: $20.74 per hour, maximum of 7 hours per school week. This position is excluded from a bargaining unit and does NOT include benefits. The work schedule does not include school vacation periods or summer break.

Responsibilities:

• Assist orchestra teacher with large and small group instruction.
• Provide remediation for students.
• Mark orchestral parts.
• Modify music for students.
• Tune instruments.
• Perform minor string instrument repair.
• Monitor instrument inventory to ensure instruments are in good playing order.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of teaching good beginner string technique (required).
• Suzuki training preferred.
• Experience working in a school or with children preferred.
