Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join a newly created Corporate & Support Services Finance team, supporting effective financial management, reporting, compliance and strategic decision-making across the organisation. MCS Group are proud to be partnering with a leading public sector organisation in their search for an Accountant.

This role is ideal for a qualified accountant with strong technical knowledge, experience across financial management, and the ability to provide accurate financial insight and support to senior stakeholders. Working within a newly established Finance pillar, you will have the opportunity to develop your experience across a range of accounting functions, including financial accounting, management accounting, capital accounting and treasury management.

The Role:

* Preparing accurate and timely financial reports, management accounts, balance sheets, income and expenditure statements and cash flow reports
* Supporting budget preparation, monitoring and forecasting, providing analysis and insight to support business decisions
* Managing month-end processes including journals, reconciliations and financial reviews
* Supporting capital accounting activities including fixed asset management, depreciation and compliance with accounting standards
* Managing treasury activities including cash flow forecasting, banking activities and investment monitoring
* Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable and income reconciliation processes
* Supporting grant management, ensuring funding is accurately recorded and reporting requirements are met
* Assisting with internal and external audit processes, statutory reporting and financial compliance
* Providing financial advice and guidance to senior stakeholders, budget holders and wider service areas
* Identifying opportunities for process improvements and supporting the development of finance policies and procedures
* Supporting the development and mentoring of junior finance team members

The Person The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Essential:
* A recognised accountancy qualification (CCAB or equivalent) and full membership of a professional accountancy body
* Experience with in financial management, accounting or audit
* Experience in at least one of the following areas: financial accounting, management accounting, capital accounting or treasury management

Location:

Ballymena Salary: £48,000 - £51,500
