Job Purpose
The Language and Communication Advisory Teacher will work within the Education Authority Local Impact Teams, delivering training, advice and support to school staff, parents/carers, and children.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver training programmes for educational professionals on language and communication.
- Offer advice and support to school staff and parents to meet the needs of children with SEN, including Developmental Language Disorder.
- Collaborate with speech and language therapists and other agencies.
- Develop and implement intervention programmes and individualised support plans.
- Monitor progress, maintain reports and contribute to annual reviews and SEND transformation plan.
- Facilitate parent support groups and training as required.
- Provide written educational advice and assist in action plans/IEPs.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with EA policies.
- Qualified teacher recognised by the Department of Education to teach in grant‑aid schools.
- Minimum 3 years experience supporting children/young people with language and communication needs or Developmental Language Disorder.
- Experience administering SEN assessments, including language assessments.
- Experience designing and implementing specific intervention programmes.
- Experience working collaboratively with health services and other professionals.
- Proficient ICT skills in educational settings.
- Access to suitable vehicle or alternative transport for mobility requirements.
- Relevant additional qualification in Special Educational Needs.
- Experience advising staff, parents, or professionals in SEN.
- Experience supervising and managing staff in SEN settings.
- Demonstrated innovation and adaptability in new initiatives.
