Position: Advisory Teacher - Language & Communication (Local Impact Teams) - 2 posts

Job Purpose

The Language and Communication Advisory Teacher will work within the Education Authority Local Impact Teams, delivering training, advice and support to school staff, parents/carers, and children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver training programmes for educational professionals on language and communication.
  • Offer advice and support to school staff and parents to meet the needs of children with SEN, including Developmental Language Disorder.
  • Collaborate with speech and language therapists and other agencies.
  • Develop and implement intervention programmes and individualised support plans.
  • Monitor progress, maintain reports and contribute to annual reviews and SEND transformation plan.
  • Facilitate parent support groups and training as required.
  • Provide written educational advice and assist in action plans/IEPs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with EA policies.
Essential Criteria
  • Qualified teacher recognised by the Department of Education to teach in grant‑aid schools.
  • Minimum 3 years experience supporting children/young people with language and communication needs or Developmental Language Disorder.
  • Experience administering SEN assessments, including language assessments.
  • Experience designing and implementing specific intervention programmes.
  • Experience working collaboratively with health services and other professionals.
  • Proficient ICT skills in educational settings.
  • Access to suitable vehicle or alternative transport for mobility requirements.
Desirable Criteria
  • Relevant additional qualification in Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience advising staff, parents, or professionals in SEN.
  • Experience supervising and managing staff in SEN settings.
  • Demonstrated innovation and adaptability in new initiatives.
