Electrical Design Engineer

Dowds are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our Building Services team in Ballymena. You’ll work across Energy, Healthcare, Higher Education, Commercial and Life Sciences projects, typically valued £5m–£35m.

You’ll lead the development of high‑quality electrical and MEP designs from concept through to handover, collaborating with internal teams, consultants and clients to deliver safe, coordinated and compliant engineering solutions.

What you’ll do:

• Deliver and review electrical designs including HV/MV/LV distribution, lighting, life safety, controls and specialist systems
• Coordinate electrical/mechanical interfaces and support wider MEP design integration
• Manage consultant design teams, tasks, deliverables and progress
• Review drawings, models (Revit/Navisworks), specifications and submittals for compliance and buildability
• Ensure designs meet all relevant codes and standards (CIBSE, BSRIA, HTMs, BS, 18th Edition, CDM, BREEAM)
• Support BIM processes and digital engineering workflows
• Assist bid and estimating teams with early‑stage engineering inputs
• Provide technical support through construction, commissioning and handover

What we’re looking for:

• Strong knowledge of electrical building services design
• Experience reviewing drawings and technical documentation
• Understanding of RIBA/BSRIA stages
• Revit experience preferred (not essential)
• Strong communication, organisation and commercial awareness
• Ability to work across multiple projects
