VANRATH are working alongside a well-established public sector organisation to appoint a qualified accountant to join their finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong accounting background to take on a broad role within a busy organisation, providing financial support across a range of areas and working closely with colleagues throughout the business.
The position would suit a finance professional who enjoys a varied workload and is keen to develop their experience within a structured and supportive environment. You will have the opportunity to work across different areas of the finance function while contributing to the effective management and reporting of financial information.
Salary/Benefits- £47,000 - £49,000 per annum

Our client is a prominent public sector organisation providing a wide range of services to the local community. The finance function plays a key role in supporting the organisation, ensuring financial information is accurate, timely and used effectively across the business.
You will become part of an established team and work with colleagues from a variety of departments. About youThe successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a good understanding of financial management and reporting. You should be able to demonstrate:
- Full professional accountancy qualification with a recognised CCAB body or equivalent
- Relevant experience within an accounting, audit or financial management environment
- Good technical accounting knowledge and an understanding of financial controls
- Experience producing financial information and supporting reporting processes
- Strong Excel skills and confidence using financial systems
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work with a range of stakeholders
- A well-organised and practical approach to managing workload
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to the wider team
This will be a varied position within the finance team, with responsibilities including:
- Supporting the preparation of regular financial information for management
- Reviewing financial data and providing commentary on key movements
- Assisting with the preparation and review of budgets and financial plans
- Monitoring income and expenditure and following up on areas of concern
- Providing financial guidance and support to colleagues across the organisation
- Assisting with year-end procedures and responding to audit queries
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring appropriate controls are followed
- Supporting the finance team with cash, asset and other accounting activities
- Helping to improve financial processes and reporting procedures
- Working with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and provide appropriate financial information
- Assisting with ad hoc analysis, projects and other finance-related work as required
