An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Communities Team at North Warwickshire Borough Council as a Community Engagement Officer.

If you are passionate about sustainability, community engagement, and the opportunity to create positive change, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for a passionate, outgoing individual to work with colleagues, partners and local people to support environmental sustainability.

This is a people-centred role, seeking to reduce waste, boost recycling, and inspire colleagues, Councillors, and local residents to adapt more sustainable behaviours.

The role will work directly with a variety of people, helping them to understand why and how they can make positive change. You will need to be approachable and creative, thinking about innovative ways to engage different audiences. You will need to use data and feedback to target specific geographical areas and population cohorts, with the ability to capture progress and success.

Our Communities Section has an excellent reputation supporting local communities through events, working with town centre partnerships, supporting local sports clubs, engaging local partners, and improving green spaces and play areas. We are looking for someone who will work with the Team and continue to make a real difference in the communities of North Warwickshire.

Appointment to this post will be conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service, before the appointment is confirmed. A Basic check will be required. This will contain details of convictions and conditional cautions considered to be ‘unspent’ under the terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

The successful candidate will be expected to be flexible, occasionally working evenings and weekends as required.

The Council offers an excellent employment package with:

  • Generous annual leave allowance (including statutory Bank Holidays and 4 extra statutory days)
  • Local Government Pension Scheme, with an employer contribution rate of 20.5%
  • Flexible working (including hybrid working) available for certain roles
  • Learning and Development opportunities
  • Family Friendly Policies
  • Generous compassionate leave
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • and more
