As an Overnight Carer at Alcester Home Care, your main responsibilities include:

• Monitoring Client Safety: Ensure the client is safe and comfortable throughout the night, responding quickly to any needs or emergencies.
• Assisting with Night-Time Personal Care: Provide support with tasks such as toileting, repositioning, and helping clients get in and out of bed when necessary.
• Offering Reassurance & Companionship: Be a calming presence, offering emotional support to clients who may feel anxious or disoriented during the night.
• Administering Medications: Follow prescribed medication schedules, ensuring clients receive their nighttime medication correctly and on time.
• Maintaining a Clean Environment: Help keep the client’s sleeping area tidy and hygienic, including changing bed linens and cleaning up as needed.
• Recording Care Notes: Keep detailed records of the client’s condition, any disturbances during the night, and actions taken, ensuring clear communication with the daytime care team.
• Responding to Client Needs: Stay alert and responsive, attending to any calls for assistance and ensuring comfort throughout your shift.

To be successful as an Overnight Carer, you should have the following skills and experience:

The ability to clearly document care notes and effectively communicate with the daytime care team and family members about the client’s condition.

Understanding the emotional and physical needs of clients, providing reassurance and a caring presence during the night.

Being alert to any changes in the client’s health or behaviour and reacting quickly to ensure their well-being.

Staying attentive throughout long night shifts, even during quiet periods, to ensure clients are safe and supported.

Being prepared to handle different situations as they arise and adjusting to the specific requirements of each client.

Knowing how to respond to medical emergencies or health concerns during the night, such as falls or breathing difficulties.
