Microsoft Purview Data Security Consultant

We’re hiring a Microsoft Purview Data Security Consultant to support an assessment‑only data security engagement for a major enterprise. This role focuses on using Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 insight tooling to understand how sensitive data is created, shared, and exposed across the organisation — without any configuration or policy enforcement.

• Identifying sensitive data concentrations, oversharing, external collaboration exposure, and stale/high‑risk content.
• Conducting identity‑driven risk analysis
  , including elevated access patterns and external sharing behaviour.
• Performing a limited on‑premise proof‑of‑discovery across selected file repositories.
• Engaging business stakeholders to understand key processes, data usage, governance gaps, and pain points.
• Mapping Purview findings to real business processes to show where data risks impact operations or compliance.
• Data & Identity Risk Baseline
• Discovery metrics and visuals
• Prioritised risk register

• Strong experience with Microsoft Purview
  , M365 data governance, and data security assessments.
• Ability to interpret Purview discovery outputs and translate them into business‑aligned recommendations.
• Experience analysing identity & access risks across Microsoft 365.
• Confident communicator with experience running workshops/interviews and presenting to senior stakeholders.
• Remote – UK
