Job Location:

Galgorm Resort, with travel to other Galgorm Collection properties Belfast, Bangor, Limavady, Templepatrick as required.

The Environmental Sustainability Manager will work alongside the Assistant Safety & Compliance Manager and support the Environmental, Safety & Compliance Manager in the strategic and operational delivery of environmental sustainability, health, safety, and data protection compliance across Galgorm Collection.

This role will lead the organisation’s sustainability strategy and drive environmental performance in line with Galgorm’s commitment to environmental excellence and net-zero  addition, the role includes responsibility for supporting and guiding the Safety & Compliance administrative team.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver the Collection’s environmental sustainability strategy with measurable KPIs.
  • Lead the organisation’s journey to achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2030.
  • Implement actions within the Green Action Plan and monitor progress.
  • Chair and coordinate the Sustainability Committee.
  • Deliver internal sustainability and compliance training.
  • Manage participation in the NI Environmental Benchmarking Survey.
  • Prepare action plans and submissions to improve performance.
  • Identify and pursue relevant environmental awards and certifications.
  • Maintain and enhance Green Tourism accreditations across all outlets.
  • Support outlet managers with achieving and sustaining Gold Award status.
  • Oversee ESOS compliance, including audits and implementation of recommendations.
  • Monitor energy usage data and develop energy-efficiency initiatives.
  • Track and report environmental KPIs, including water use, waste reduction, recycling, and solar generation.
  • Maintain and update sustainability dashboards.
  • Coordinate the achievement and maintenance of CORE accreditation.
  • Liaise with internal departments and auditors.
  • Develop partnerships with environmental consultants and external bodies.
  • Represent Galgorm in sustainability forums.
  • Develop methodologies for monitoring and reducing supply-chain emissions.
  • Work with procurement and suppliers to gather environmental performance data.
  • Manage budgets related to sustainability and compliance initiatives.
  • Prepare business cases for sustainability-related CAPEX.
  • Review and update relevant sustainability policies and documentation.
  • Provide day-to-day support and supervision to Safety & Compliance administrative staff.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Hold a Level 7 qualification in Sustainable Development, Environmental Management, or equivalent.
  • Hold PRINCE2 Project Management certification (or equivalent recognised project management qualification).
  • Have demonstrable experience delivering environmental sustainability initiatives at organisational level.
  • Have strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Have strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work confidentially with excellent attention to detail.
  • Have experience working within sustainability roles in hospitality or multi-site organisations.
  • Hold additional environmental or energy management qualifications (e.g. IEMA, Carbon Literacy, ISO 14001 Internal Auditor).
  • Have experience managing sustainability reporting frameworks.
  • Have experience managing budgets and CAPEX planning
