Job Title: Production Shift Supervisor
Location: Ballymena
Type: Permanent, Full-time
Hours of Work: 12-hour rotational shifts inc. days, nights, weekends
The Role
As Production Shift Supervisor you will support the Production Shift Manager in the delivery of safe, efficient and high-performing shift operations to ensure customer SLAs are met. You will supervise daily operations, motivating your team to maximise individual and team performance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate your team by providing day to day guidance, training and support to maximise individual and team performance.
- Vigilantly monitor line performance to achieve operational targets, identify issues and implement timely corrective actions to address variances and drive continuous improvement.
- Champion best practice and operational consistency by ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure you and your team comply with all safety protocols, including PPE usage, machine safety, and emergency shutdown procedures and actively challenge unsafe behaviours.
- Conduct regular quality checks, including filling levels, cap integrity, and cleanliness, and ensure your team adhere to these standards.
- Complete production logs, maintenance reports, and checklists to ensure traceability and compliance with company standards and regulations.
- Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performance culture that encourages employee engagement, teamwork, accountability and continuous learning.
- Work closely with the Production Shift Manager, team members and other cross-functional teams to implement improvement initiatives and effective problem-solving.
Essential Criteria:
- Supervisory experience with evidence of effective organisational, planning and time management skills
- Proven track record of success in meeting challenging deadlines within a high-speed manufacturing environment (FMCG, preferably beverage industry).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of filling machinery and automated production systems with experience of working towards regulatory and customer standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly, minimising production downtime including basic maintenance and mechanical breakdowns.
- Ability to maintain high standards of quality control, ensuring products meet company and regulatory standards.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills with both basic verbal and written English to work effectively within a team and report issues as needed.
- Flexible to work rotational shifts (to include days, nights, weekends) and overtime when necessary to meet customer demands.
