We are looking to appoint motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Nurses with experience or newly qualified to join the team at 6WB neonatal unit. Experience not essential as full support and training will be provided for newly qualified nurses who are able to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfil this role.
We currently have vacancy at the Royal Free site which is a level 1 unit with 12 Special Care and 2 HDU costs, with a friendly, motivated, and dynamic teams that promote Family Integrated Care . We work very closely with Barnet Hospital which is our sister hospital. Barnet neonatal unit is a level 2 with 30 cots including Intensive care and High dependency cots.
You will have the opportunity to rotate between the two units as a means of developing your skills.
The main duties of this role are:
Deliver direct patient care to babies requiring Special Care needs.
Dealing with emergencies as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Clear communication with parents and colleagues.
Help and support parents, keeping them updated about their babies.
Teach and support students and new staff.
Take part in quality improvement projects on the unit.
Complete timely discharge planning for babies on the unit

Person Specification Education and qualifications- oNMC registration (RN / RSCN / RM)
- oEvidence of continuous professional development within the speciality linked to demonstrable clinical competencies
- oEducated to degree level in a health related subject or equivalent practice
- oNLS provider certificate
- oStudent supervision and assessment qualification
- oNeonatal nursing skills including caring for baby receiving ITU/ HDU level of care
- oHolistic understanding of neonatal nursing and relevant specialist skill and abilities to work in partnership with families
- oTeaching/ training skills including preceptorship skills
- oAble to problem solve and initiate change
- oAble to work across professional team and organisational boundaries
- oAbility to organise and prioritise own workload
- oAbility to manage time effectively
- oAdministration of IV drugs
- oInterviewing skills
- oEvidence of recent neonatal nursing experience
- oKnowledge and experience of coordinating and managing individualised patient care
- oKnowledge of children's safeguarding- risk factors and protective factors
- oExperience of handling clinical emergencies
- oKnowledge of research and audit
- oCaring and compassionate nurse
- oGood team player
- oAwareness of equality and diversity
- oBasic knowledge of computers
- oAccountable, taking responsibility for own action and promotes team working
- Willing to work day/ night shifts including weekends and bank holiday
- Demonstrates ability to meet Trust values
