Veterinary Practitioner – Small Animal

Fenaghy Veterinary Clinic | Ballymena & Antrim

Permanent | Full-time or Part-time | Start from May 2026

Accommodation available at our Ballymena practice

A Rare Opportunity to Join a Truly Supportive Practice

Opportunities like this don’t come up often at Fenaghy Veterinary Clinic. With an established, happy team, we are now in the rare position of welcoming a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our practices in Ballymena and Antrim. This is a chance to become part of a genuinely supportive, clinically strong environment where people stay, grow and enjoy their work.

Whether you are looking for full‑time hours or something more flexible, we are open to conversations about how this role could fit your life as well as your career.

A Practice Where You Can Do Your Best Work

Fenaghy is a first‑opinion small animal practice with two well‑equipped clinics, located in Ballymena and Antrim. Our team currently includes eight vets, eleven nurses across all stages of training, and a dedicated support team who keep the practices running smoothly. Collaboration is second nature here, and support is always close by.

Clinically, the practice offers real depth without pressure to specialise. We have certificate holders in medicine, dermatology, exotics, small animal surgery and orthopaedics, and a visiting ophthalmology specialist at the Ballymena clinic. Facilities include ultrasound, digital X‑ray, endoscopy, video otoscopy and a full in‑house laboratory with haematology, biochemistry and Vet Imagyst. This is a place where cases are worked up properly, discussions are encouraged, and learning happens naturally.

The Role and Working Pattern

This is a first‑opinion small animal role with a focus on gold standard veterinary care. Full‑time hours are 36 per week, with flexibility for part‑time applicants.

Your rota is structured and predictable, with one in six Saturdays worked in sole charge at the Ballymena clinic from 9 am to 2 pm. Weekday shifts are shared between Antrim and Ballymena, with no on‑call and no routine out‑of‑hours work, as this is covered by Vets Now in Belfast, including selected bank holidays. The focus is firmly on delivering excellent care during working hours, while protecting your time outside of work.

Support,

Development and Wellbeing

Fenaghy is a practice where vets are trusted and supported. CPD is fully funded, with certificate study encouraged but never expected. You will also receive RCVS, AVSPNI and BVA memberships, VDS cover and private health insurance as part of the package.

For those relocating, accommodation is available at the Ballymena practice, helping to make the move as smooth as possible.

Who We’d Love to Hear From

We welcome applications from RCVS‑registered veterinary surgeons at all stages of experience. What matters most is a positive, team‑focused approach, a genuine interest in first‑opinion small animal practice, and a desire to be part of a long‑standing, supportive team.
