Braefield Nursing Home is based in the picturesque village of Connor, located between Antrim and Ballymena. Braefield is a 56‑bedded Nursing Home spread over three units and hosts 56 registered residents across mental health, physical disability and dementia categories. The team is dedicated to providing a high standard of person‑centred care.
The RoleThe Kitchen Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our kitchens, supporting the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred dining experiences for residents. Working as part of the Kitchen team and reporting to the Chef, the role goes beyond preparation and service to include dietary planning, maintaining a clean environment and contributing to a safe, positive working environment.
Responsibilities- Ensures that all catering stock and equipment is correctly stored and accounted for in accordance with the company’s Assured Safe Catering standards.
- Delivers meals and other catering supplies to various areas within the unit in a timely and efficient manner.
- Under direction, assists with the basic preparation of food items.
- Ensures all cleaning within the kitchen, catering and servery areas (as appropriate) is completed and complies with the company’s Assured Safe Catering standards.
- Delivers and maintains a clean and tidy environment throughout the home, in line with operational standards and ensures that work processes comply with statutory regulations.
- Undertakes any other duties reasonably required as designated by the Chef or Cook.

- Previous catering, kitchen or food preparation experience
- Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Previous experience in a care home or healthcare environment
