Community Care Support Worker on behalf of a large public sector company in Ballymena on a temporary basis.

The Community Living Support Worker will be primarily responsible for assisting social work managers in the provision of quality social work services to young people within the leaving and after care service. He/She will work within a Children's Services Team and will undertake tasks allocated by the Social Work Team Manager to support social workers in the discharge of their duties.

The Community Living Support Worker will also be expected to ensure continuing professional development through training, supervision and learning in line with NISCC registration requirements.

Evening and weekend work will be necessary.

What you'll do
  • Undertake work with young people as directed by the Social Work Manager, Senior Social Work Practitioner or Social Worker in keeping with any support/protection/care plan.
  • Supporting young people to attend appointments in relation to maintaining their emotional health and well-being.
  • The SW/ SP/ SSW would hold case responsibility and the Community Living Support Worker would be involved in and contribute to the overall assessment process commensurate with their role / responsibility. Their role will be supported through the provision of supervision and under the guidance of the case-holder. They would not hold a caseload independently.
  • Undertake the arrangements and/or assist with the delivery of services, assessed by social work staff as being needed to support young people. This will include supporting the young to maintian their independent living arrangements. On occasion attendance and contribution to reports for Trust meetings in relation to the young people they are supporting.
  • Complete delegated tasks such as co-ordinating and ensuring compliance with tenancy agreements, repairs and health and safety requirements which includes completing fire checks.
  • Assist young people with practical tasks including and delivering advice and guidance in relation to promoting positive emotional health and well-being, routines and boundaries, behaviour expectations, homecare management, budgeting and essential form filling as necessary.
  • Provide general information about services and sign-post to more appropriate services as required.
Governance and Reporting Responsibility
  • Report to Team Manger and/or Social Worker immediately all identified child protection concerns or other areas of concern or risk identified in the course of any work with children and families.
  • Support social work staff as requested with administrative tasks in relation to making referrals or signposting to other agencies/service, setting up meetings and attending meetings along with young people where it is requested.
  • Liaise with other agencies in multi-disciplinary work, under the direction of social work staff or the social work team manager.
  • Maintain clear records of all work undertaken.
  • Provide written reports of any tasks delegated by social workers or allocated by the Social Work Team Manager/Senior Social Work Practitioner.
  • Participate in the supervision process with the Social Work Team Manager/Senior Social Work Practitioner.
  • Be accountable for own practise in keeping with their NISCC codes of conduct, ensuring it is of high quality and reflects best practice.
About you
  • NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 3 in a care-related subject and 1 years' experience working in a social care role
  • NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 2 in a care-related subject and 2 years' experience working in a social care role
  • 4 GCSEs (Grades A-C) and 3 years' experience working in a social care role.
  • * For those who do not hold Level 3, should be willing to complete Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care Support
  • NISCC Registered
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment
