Senior Software Engineer

Twinkl Educational Publishing is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team.

Location:

Remote with Sheffield HQ visits 6 times a year. Annual salary: £60,000- £75,000
.

• Work on a system rebuilding our experience using React, Next.js, Type Script, and Node.js.
• Operate in a modern cloud architecture on AWS, including serverless and microservices.
• Collaborate with autonomous, product-centric teams to shape technical direction and deliver scalable solutions that serve millions of educators and learners.
• Build web applications and digital products with a focus on accessibility, performance, and reliability.
• Contribute across the stack including frontend (React/Next.js/Type Script) and backend (Node.js/Type Script) where applicable.
• Own your code end-to-end, from design through deployment, in a Dev Ops environment with CI/CD practices.

• Experience with React/Next.js + Type Script for frontend and/or Node.js + Type Script for backend.
• If you can do both, great; otherwise, comfort with one side and a desire to grow into a full-stack role.
• Experience owning code end-to-end in a collaborative Dev Ops environment.
• Extensive experience in web development for large-scale, cloud-based systems with CI/CD.
• Deep expertise in modern frontend frameworks (especially React) and essential web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Type Script) and accessibility (a11y).
• Experience with automated testing and familiarity with TDD.
• Experience in product-centric teams that value strong engineering practices such as TDD and pair programming.
• Value cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement.
