About the Role As Transport Manager, you will hold responsibility for the organisation's transport compliance and fleet governance framework. You will ensure the business operates safely, legally, and efficiently, with full accountability for maintaining standards required by regulatory bodies. You will act as the senior point of contact for all transport-related compliance matters, supporting both operational performance and legal obligations while driving continuous improvement across the fleet.
This role combines compliance oversight, leadership, and strategic input into fleet performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Take full responsibility for transport compliance and Operator Licence obligations Ensure adherence to all relevant transport legislation, DVSA requirements, and internal policies Lead on fleet safety, ensuring vehicles are maintained, roadworthy, and legally compliant at all times Oversee driver compliance standards, including licence checks, training, and conduct expectations Manage transport risk, including incident investigation and corrective action planning Act as key contact for regulatory bodies, audits, and compliance inspections Provide leadership and direction to transport/compliance administrative staff Set and maintain operational standards across fleet processes and documentation Monitor fleet performance, identifying risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities Oversee relationships with maintenance providers, workshops, and external transport partners Ensure robust systems are in place for record-keeping, reporting, and audit readiness Contribute to strategic planning around fleet efficiency, cost control, and operational improvement What We're Looking For Proven experience in a Transport Manager, Fleet Manager, or senior transport compliance role CPC is ideal Strong understanding of Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation Ability to take ownership of compliance and make confident operational decisions Leadership experience, with the ability to guide and support a team Strong stakeholder management skills (internal and external) Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to regulatory detail Competent in managing systems, reporting, and compliance frameworks What's On Offer Competitive salary package dependent on experience Senior leadership role with genuine responsibility and autonomy Opportunity to influence transport strategy and operational standards Supportive organisation with investment in compliance and safety Pension scheme and employee benefits package Long-term career development opportunity within a growing business
