CLASS DEFINITION

An Administrative Analyst I conduct management studies and analyses to improve workflow, simplify procedures, and to implement cost reductions. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from an administrative superior. Employees work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office setting where there are no uncomfortable conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

Minimum Qualifications

On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:

  • EDUCATION: Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • AND
  • EXPERIENCE
    :
    Have two years of experience in workflow analysis, procedures manual writing, or operational analysis.
  • OR
  • NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES):
    Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of administrative analysis.
  • Ability to develop administrative procedures and forms.
  • Ability to conduct administrative and organizational studies and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Ability to collect, compile and analyze data.
  • Ability to assemble information for and prepare reports.
  • Ability to deal with City government personnel effectively.
  • Ability to express ideas and abstract thoughts clearly both in written and oral form.
  • Ability to interpret the administrative policies and procedures of Baltimore City government.
Additional Information Background Check

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.

Probation

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six‑month’s probation.

Eligibility

Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.

Education Accreditation

Applicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained es.org.
