Position Overview

Periodontal Surgical Dental Assistant – full‑time position at Star Dental Partners in Baltimore, Maryland. The position supports Dr. Peter Joseph, a top periodontist with over 20 years of experience, focusing on comprehensive periodontal and surgical care.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist the periodontist with surgical and non‑surgical procedures.
  • Welcome patients and prepare them for treatments or checkups, ensuring their comfort.
  • Select and set up instrumentation, equipment, and other dental materials as needed.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatories.
  • Support infection control and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Perform lab tasks as instructed.
  • Provide post‑operative care instructions.
  • Maintain clean and stocked operatories.
Qualifications
  • Active Maryland Radiology Certification for X‑Rays, EFDA Certification, CPR Certification; periodontal surgical experience preferred but not required.
  • At least 2 years of dental assisting clinical experience.
  • Reliable, efficient, and detail‑oriented with pride in task completion.
  • Knowledge of dental treatments to answer patient questions skillfully.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to interact professionally with the doctor, staff, and patients.
  • Positive, team‑oriented attitude, contributing to a family‑feel culture.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
  • Bi‑lingual preferred.
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations.
  • Experience with digital software and scanning.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinker, high integrity.

Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm with 30‑minute lunch breaks.
