Job Description

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic faculty member to teach in our Expanded Functions Dental Assisting Program. This is a part-time, professional position reporting directly to the Dean of Education. The primary responsibility will be to teach General Duties Expanded Function Dental Assisting courses. The typical teaching load is two courses each term, with one or two preparations. Applicants will also be expected to provide academic advising to students, and participant in department training, meetings and graduation.

Requirements

• Completion of a Dental Assisting program and additional training in General Duties Expanded Function Dental Assisting, resulting in a Certificate of Completion or Diploma; an associate degree is preferred but not required

• Certifications:
  • General Duties Expanded Function Dental Assistant certification from the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners - Required
  • Registered Dental Assistant or Certified Dental Assistant certification is required
  • DANB RHS - required

• At least three years of experience as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Highly organized, motivated, and results-driven

• Prior higher education/postsecondary teaching experience preferred
