Manufacturing Engineer
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Builds molds for manufacturing composite parts primarily via hand layup of tooling prepreg on master molds. Builds other types of tools as needed using a variety of methods.
- Builds new parts with minimal process definition in coordination with engineers.
- Leads builds of high complexity/low volume parts.
- Provides feedback on process development for parts based on prototypes and low volume initial production to transition processes to mainline production group.
Education Level (Required): High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
Field of Study/Area of
Experience:
4-6 years of experience in building hand-laid up composite parts and/or building composite tools.
- Experience with building hand-laid up composite parts is required.
- Experience working with tooling prepreg is preferred.
- Experience performing surface preparation on master patterns and molds is preferred.
- Experience repairing composite parts and tools is preferred.
- Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience reading engineering drawings is required.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision in order to meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements Manufacturing / Non‑Sedentary Requirements
Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb. May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
