Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Medical Oncologist Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University

The Department of Oncology and the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is recruiting a board eligible/ board certified MD or MD, PhD medical oncologist with research and clinical experience in the field of adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology, to establish and lead a newly developed AYA Oncology Program at the SKCCC. The ideal candidate will be a junior faculty member or recent graduate of a fellowship training program in medical/ pediatric oncology, with preference given to candidates who are dual board certified/ eligible in both pediatric oncology and medical oncology.

Clinical responsibilities will be in the care of adolescent and young adult patients with solid tumors, and research activities will be aligned with the interests and expertise of the candidate but should center around AYA Oncology. A major focus of the newly established AYA Oncologist position should be in the program building efforts towards the creation of the SKCCC AYA Oncology Program.

The candidate will join an active multi-disciplinary Solid Tumor Oncology Program at SKCCC, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Department of Oncology consists of 165 faculty in all disciplines of oncology (including Pediatric Oncology) and partners closely with dedicated surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists and other experts essential for the comprehensive care of cancer patients across all ages. A newly established AYA Oncology Program will ensure that the unique needs of this age-specific population are met in a comprehensive program that addresses psychosocial, fertility related, medical and oncologic needs of all patients.

Protected time for research activities will be afforded. The faculty member will have access to clinical and research mentoring. A Department of Oncology Junior Faculty Mentoring Committee will be assembled and required, to form and maintain priorities and goals consistent with professional and academic advancement and success.
