Position: 6-month, ACGME clinical neurophysiology/EEG or Epilepsy fellowship

The University of Maryland Medical Center and the School of Medicine is pleased to announce that we have an opening for a 6-month, ACGME clinical neurophysiology/EEG or Epilepsy fellowship starting July 2026 with options to extend training beyond  one-year position to add an additional ACGME accredited year if desired.

The program is based in our busy Maryland Comprehensive Epilepsy Center (NAEC Level IV) and includes training in the epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) at the University of Maryland Medical Center and an ICU continuous EEG monitoring program based in a 22-bed Neurointensive care unit as well as in other sites in the Medical Center.

The fellowship program also includes training in medical management of seizures, routine EEG, epilepsy surgery evaluation and surgical treatment (including resection, Neuromodulation including RNS, VNS and DBS, and laser interstitial thermal therapy), brain mapping with SEEG and grid/depth intracranial electrodes, functional epilepsy testing, and neuroimaging. We also offer opportunities for clinical epilepsy research. Fellows have the opportunity to participate in teaching residents and students, specialized programs including a Women's Epilepsy Program, First Seizure Clinic and Adults with Neurodevelopmental Disorders program.

Faculty of the program include Jennifer Hopp MD (Division Director, Epilepsy), Peter Crino MD PhD (Chairman, Department of Neurology), Camilo Gutierrez MD (Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Program Director), Jennifer Pritchard MD (Director, cEEG Program), Mehraneh Khadjevand MD, Susmit Tripathi MD (Director of IOM), and Stephanie Chen MD (Director of Neuromodulation) and Sarah Woodson-Smith MD (Director, Epilepsy Outpatient Program). Neurosurgeons include Alex Ksendzovsky, MD PhD and Whitney Parker MD PhD.

Fellows work with support staff who include administrative assistants, social work, epilepsy nurse practitioners (general and psychiatry) and EEG technicians.

Training and calls are shared with other fellows. Pay and benefits are commensurate with the ACGME accredited positions based on PGY-level at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Requirements
  • Applicants should have completed an ACGME-approved residency in Neurology.
