Palliative Care Physician, Internal Medicine Physician
The University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking an academic palliative medicine physician for our expanding program. Clinical duties will include both inpatient activities as well as development of an outpatient program. Protected time for teaching and research is offered.
The Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine resides in the Department of Medicine and is comprised of a team of 5.5 MDs, an NP, an RN manager, a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist, Chaplain, and Social Worker, in addition to full‑time Program Support and a Business Administrator. The members of the team serve as expert palliative consultants to the UMMC’s mult‑disciplinary service teams, adding an extra layer of support to patients and their families.

The expected salary range for Assistant Professors is $182,937 (min) and $274,000 (max). The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the departmental faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental variable compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.

This position requires a medical degree from a recognized accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent) and all candidates must meet the requirements to obtain a medical license in the State of Maryland. Successful candidates will be board certified/eligible in Palliative Medicine. A strong foundation in internal medicine, teaching and research or quality improvement experience is preferred.
