Position Overview
The Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at Johns Hopkins University invites applications for the Glenadore and Howard L. Pim Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Change. The fellowship is one year long with an anticipated extension for a second year. The position carries a salary of $62,232/yr, fringe benefits, and an annual stipend of $5,000 for travel and research expenses. Eligible candidates may participate in Johns Hopkins University health plans.

Information on our department can be found at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). The Morton K. Blaustein Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Johns Hopkins University offers programs of study and research in the basic Earth sciences, particularly:
- Geology, the science of the solid Earth and other terrestrial planets and satellites
- Geochemistry, devoted to understanding the chemistry of the solid Earth and natural waters
- Geophysics, concerned with a quantitative description of physical processes in the Earth and planetary sciences
- Oceanography, the study of ocean currents, biogeochemistry, and the ocean’s role in climate
- Atmospheric sciences, particularly the dynamics of atmospheric circulation both on Earth and other outer planets and their satellites
- Ecology and paleoecology, the study of the relationships between organisms and their environment today and in the geologic past.
The department’s primary goals are research and the training of scholars who will contribute to the future of these disciplines. The programs emphasize basic principles and concepts rather than applied aspects. The department is also committed to improving equity, diversity and inclusion in the field of Earth and Planetary Sciences.
Areas of Interest- Fundamental processes driving global change
- The impact of global change on air quality, water resources, ecosystems and ecological processes, and/or human health
- Adaptation of societal and natural systems to the effects of global change
- Energy resources
- Analysis of economic, sociological, public health, and policy implications of global change
Candidates whose research spans the natural sciences, social sciences, health sciences, and/or public policy aspects of global change are especially encouraged to apply. The department values experiences and goals related to improving equity, diversity, and inclusion in the field. Candidates whose research complements the current departmental expertise and scholarship are preferred, and candidates are encouraged to collaborate with faculty from other Hopkins departments.
