Adjunct Instructor for Adult Learners with Disabilities

Position salary range:
Starting at $37 per hour
HCC is looking for instructors with experience working with adults with developmental disabilities to teach for our CORE program. CORE meets M‑Th. 3:00‑5:30 pm on‑campus and F 3:30‑5:30 pm online. CORE is a continuing education program that allows adults with developmental disabilities to maintain or build on their basic reading, math, social and independent living skills while exploring practical real‑life topics in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Exercise, computer, and leisure skills are also incorporated. We are also looking for adjunct instructors to teach additional classes beginning Fall 2026, including skills for independent living, employment, academic skills, and special topics. Please reach out to ILP for more information.
- Prepare and teach age‑and‑developmentally appropriate lessons centered around practical, real‑life topics.
- Be knowledgeable and passionate about working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and respect for differences.
- Respond to issues professionally and with an understanding of how disabilities affect learning and behavior.
- Collaborate with other instructors to maintain consistency throughout the program.
High School or equivalent
Experience Required2 years
Preferred Experience- At least 2 years experience working with adults with developmental disabilities
- Teaching experience and curriculum development experience strongly preferred
- Preference given to applicants who clearly state in their cover letter how their experience relates to this opportunity
