Position Duties
The Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences (SLHS) at Loyola University Maryland invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in child communication disorders to begin in July 2026. We are looking for a candidate committed to (1) excellence in graduate and undergraduate education at a dynamic liberal arts university, (2) inclusive teaching practices, and (3) continuing a productive research program. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the University and Department's ongoing commitment and action to promote equity, inclusion, and justice for and with all members of our community.
We seek outstanding candidates from all areas of child and adolescent communication disorders, including articulation, fluency, literacy, receptive/expressive language, and social communication, as well as competence with varying research strategies. Those with clinical expertise in one or more of these areas are particularly encouraged to apply. The candidate selected for this position will teach in both the undergraduate and the master's program in speech-language pathology with at least one or more courses focused on child communication disorders.
This position comes with a 3 (fall) and 3 (spring) teaching load, with a reduced load (2-3) during the first year to allow for acclimation to the Department. In addition to teaching, tenure-track faculty at Loyola are expected to maintain a robust scholarly research program, participate in academic advising, and engage in Department and University service with a commitment to the Jesuit mission.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an awareness of and interest in high-impact teaching practices that align with the Jesuit mission of educating the whole person - mind, body, and spirit. The University and Department provide support for teaching excellence through workshops, trainings, and peer mentoring.
