Position:

Part-time faculty appointment in the Animation Program at the Maryland Institute College of Art

Job Description:

This faculty position will teach a minimum of 3 credits and maximum of 6 credits per semester in Film and Video. The candidate will be capable of teaching various levels of animation at the undergraduate program. Faculty should also have a broad understanding of the role of animation in contemporary culture, art, and commerce. Please review the online course descriptions for possible placement options.

Requirements:

* A Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in animation, a related visual arts field, or professional achievements in animation or digital media equivalent to an MFA;

* Demonstrated knowledge of animation processes and tools in contemporary animation arts practice;

* Demonstrated knowledge in animation history, theory, and criticism;

* A record of professional accomplishment, as demonstrated by an online portfolio of professional work and record of exhibition and/or publication.

Additional Information:

Salary: $4,515.00 - $7,656.00 Commensurate with experience and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The part-time faculty are represented by the SEIU Local 500.

Physical demands and work environment:

* Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

* Work environment:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

* Required training:
Exhibitions Department Installation Guide and Policy handbook, MICA Handbook orientation, Anti-Harassment, Hazard Communication, Emergency Plans & Fire Prevention, Personal Protection Equipment. (additional training may be added, SEE: EHS Manager training schedule)
