DutiesWe are seeking an Assistant Director of Coaching & Career Education who will partner with students through transformational coaching methods and holistic life design concepts to empower them to realize and achieve their full professional and leadership potential.
JHU Carey Business School has a rare opportunity to join the high performing team of professionals in the Career & Life Design (C&LD) department as an Assistant Director of Coaching & Career Education. Functioning as an Executive Career Coach, the Assistant Director partners with students through transformational coaching methods and holistic life design concepts to empower them to realize and achieve their full professional and leadership potential.
This position is primarily aligned with the Full-time and Part-time Masters of Science (MS) populations, though subject to change based on department and school needs.
- Partners with a team of program-aligned coaching and career education colleagues to provide 1:1 and group career coaching and education for full-time and part-time graduate business students and alumni.
- Provides coaching and career education programming to help students realize their potential, build their professional brand, increase their readiness to network with global employers and alumni, navigate career transition/advancement/management, and achieve their unique career goals.
- Designs and implements in-person and virtual career education and professional development programs/resources.
- Partners with cross-department colleagues to create and prepare students for networking and mentoring opportunities.
- Works with Employer Relations team members to collaborate on industry programming and promotion of industry/employer opportunities.
- Serves as primary resource/content point person for special topics within business career development (i.e. Pre-Employment Assessments, Case Interviews, International Students); identified topic areas/trends shared across the department.
- Collaborate with department, school, and JHU stakeholders on department and cross-department/university initiatives.
- Coach individuals and groups in working toward achieving their career, leadership and professional development goals.
- Utilize coaching techniques and resources that meet the needs of diverse populations, including international students.
- Administer and walk-through assessments, including Career Leader and Clifton Strengths.
- Maintain accurate and complete coaching records.
- Follow-up with students and alumni as needed to track progress and encourage engagement with resources.
- Educate students on effectively utilizing extensive school and JHU-wide career education tools and resources.
- Partner with students to identify and make referrals (where appropriate) to opportunities and resources provided by other student experience teams and throughout JHU and business ecosystems.
- Design and deliver in-person and virtual customized career education programs (video/online content, workshops, panels, networking events, professional development courses) and services for students.
- Develop strategic relationships and collaborate with key academic stakeholders (program directors, academic program managers, faculty, etc.) to facilitate continuous needs assessment and the effective implementation of professional development for students and alumni.
