Position Summary
The Childcare Teacher-Preschool is responsible for the day-to-day care of children ages 2–6 years in the classroom, planning creative, educational, fun activities for them as well as addresses their basic needs.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Develops and implements weekly lesson plans for the afternoon preschoolers.
- Provides nurturing and comfort to children.
- Assist students with potty-training who show readiness.
- Creates and implements weekly lesson plans.
- Ensures that parents sign their children in and out of childcare using the form provided.
- Tracks inventory of preschool age appropriate toys and educational materials and informs the Director when supplies are low.
- Assists in the sorting, storage and distribution of children’s program donations, children’s closet, toy room and diaper room.
- Provides care for children ages 6 weeks-6 years in the evening when there are Family Engagement events.
- Participates in relationship based practice and reflective supervision.
- Attends and participates in weekly staff meeting and trainings appropriate to this position.
- Complete 12 hours of continuing education a year following the state guidelines and maintain CPR/First Aid certifications.
- Ensures cleanliness of classrooms, furniture, toys through daily sanitization, proper arrangement, organization and stimulation in indoor/outdoor learning environments.

- Must be 21 years old or older.
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- One (1) year experience working with the Preschool population.
- 90 Clock hours in Early Childhood Curriculum and Development or equivalent required or in progress.
- 45 Clock hours Preschool Certification required.
- First Aid & CPR.
- Knowledgeable about the impact of intimate partner violence and trauma on child development, behavior and on families.
- Demonstrates ability to manage emotionally traumatized children as part of a team.
- Demonstrates competence with computer systems including MS Word, agency email and client/outcome database systems.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to respond quickly to children who may be in danger of getting hurt, in the classroom and on the playground.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
