Under the guidance of a teacher, provides individual or group instruction services. Prepares instructional materials used with individuals or groups, including children and families. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Example of Duties:

• Provide individual or group special instruction services under the guidance of a teacher or other professional staff.
• Prepare instructional materials to be used during individual and/or group settings with children and families.
• Provide interim and/or ongoing service coordination to families ensuring effective assessment planning, Individualized Family Service Plan development, and service delivery to children and families.
• Participate in developing the initial Individualized Family Service Plan and periodic Individualized Family Service Plan reviews for eligible children and families.
• Assist with site-based procedures (i.e., Medical Assistance billing procedures, processing transition packets, preparing packets for Individualized Family Service Plan reviews, assessment planning and scheduling) under the direction of the site specialist and team leader designed to ensure effective service delivery to children and families and efficient processes that support site operations.
• Collaborate with personnel from a variety of agencies in implementation of services to children and families.
• Complete documentation requirements including service coordination logs, Medical Assistance billings, and statistics forms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training and

Experience:

• A minimum of 48 college credits or high school diploma and successful completion of Praxis Para Pro Assessment is required. Associate degree in education preferred.
• Experience working with children. Experience working with families with limited English proficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of computers and computer software programs. Knowledge of Baltimore County Infants and Toddlers Program procedures. Knowledge of working with individuals with developmental, emotional, and/or physical disabilities. Knowledge of the educational system.
• Skill in communicating effectively. Skill in establishing rapport with children, their families, and staff. Skill in organizing and prioritizing workload.
• Ability to use computers and related equipment. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to maintain confidential information.

Physical and

Environmental Conditions:

The work of this class is generally performed in homes, community childcare settings, schools and office environments. Travel to homes, community locations and schools throughout Baltimore County required. Work includes the operation of office equipment, computers, and assistive technology devices. Physical activity may include being able to get up and down from the floor, occasional lifting of children, and occasional running.

Conditions of employment:

Employees in this class may be required to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends based on the schedules of students.

Salary: Grade 31-35 depending on education. $21.12-$34.83 (Hourly Base Pay Scale for Non-Exempt Paraeducators Represented by ESPBC, Effective July 1, 2024)
