An organization within Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems Sector, Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) is a leading innovator in advanced microelectronics design and fabrication. MDA is seeking a Principal Systems Test Engineer. This position is located at Baltimore, MD.

• Lead the installation, integration, inspection, and testing of Commercial-Off-The-Shell (COTS) and custom cryogenic system electrical equipment used to advance research efforts of superconducting microelectronic devices.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate hardware failures to support system build-out and sell-off. Support system hand-off to internal customers.

• Effectively communicate project status to technical leadership, functional management, and stakeholders.

• Communicate design modifications to cross‑functional teams throughout the design lifecycle, including participation in design reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR, TRR).

• Develop and write test plans based on customer and system requirements.

• Execute tests for individual hardware (both custom and COTS) and entire systems to validate functionality.

• Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.

• Develop and sustain installation and integration process documentation.

• A degree in a STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with a minimum of 5 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, 3 years of experience with a master’s degree, or 0 years of experience with a PhD. Will consider 4 years additional experience in lieu of degree.

• Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers.

• Working knowledge of RF cable networks.

• Working knowledge of standard electrical design components: filters, couplers, splitters, mixers, amplifiers, etc.

• Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Demonstrated ability to use basic hand tools.

• Must be a U.S. citizen
