We are currently seeking an experienced engineer to support the growth of our practice in the Baltimore Office’s Highway Group. Candidates must have excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills and the ability to be highly responsive to clients. A candidate’s experience in, or a strong desire to develop oversight, mentorship, and staff management support skills is a bonus.
ResponsibilitiesThe Highway Engineering Group works on a variety of transportation related projects within the mid-Atlantic region (PA, MD, DE, VA) as well as nationally. The Highway Group participates in the development of roadway alignments, roadside evaluation and design, multi-modal (pedestrian, bicycle, transit) design, maintenance of traffic design, preparation of construction plans, specifications, cost estimates and the development of technical reports. Project assignments can range from small-scale intersection improvements to bicycle and pedestrian facility projects to complex interchange and corridor projects.
The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting Senior Project Engineers in a variety of tasks as well as managing projects.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 5 - 10 years of relevant job experience related to highway engineering
- Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization
- EIT required, PE license preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Experience with design software tools such as Micro Station, InRoads, Open Roads and AutoCAD preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
- Experience designing highway projects and preparing contract documents
- Knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and other relevant highway design guidelines, criteria, and standards

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $85,000.00 - $. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
