Techno is looking for a detail-oriented Inspector with deep experience in tunnel or railroad construction to support a major rail infrastructure initiative in Baltimore. This long-term project plays a key role in upgrading one of the busiest and most vital transportation corridors on the East Coast. In this position, you’ll serve as a critical presence in the field—overseeing tunnel and rail construction activities, verifying compliance with design requirements, monitoring contractor performance, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational readiness.

• Inspect tunnel and rail construction activities including track installation, structural components, excavation, support systems, waterproofing, ventilation, and related civil works
• Verify compliance with project specifications, drawings, safety protocols, and railroad standards
• Monitor construction sequencing, field operations, and tunnel-specific work methods
• Document daily progress, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions
• Coordinate with tunnel engineers, track specialists, contractors, and field inspection staff
• Maintain detailed field reports and support project documentation requirements
• Conduct materials inspections, quality checks, and ensure proper installation of rail and tunnel systems
• Participate in regular progress meetings and provide clear, field-informed updates

• 5+ years of experience in construction inspection with a strong emphasis on tunnel or rail infrastructure
• Solid understanding of tunnel excavation methods, temporary supports, structural concrete, rail systems, and heavy civil construction practices
• Familiarity with railroad terminology, track components, signal systems, tunnel systems, and construction documentation
• Proven experience working on major rail, tunnel, or large-scale civil infrastructure projects
• Amtrak or freight/passenger rail experience is highly desirable
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in both field and collaborative team environments
• OSHA 10/30 or relevant tunnel/rail safety certifications

The expected salary range for this role in the Baltimore Area is $40 - $50 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined during the interview process.
