District

Overview

Kiewit’s Eastern District specializes in heavy civil construction projects throughout the Northeast. We lead in bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction and are experienced in cast‑in‑place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. We also handle energy/power projects in the Northeast. With our skilled employees and extensive resources, the Eastern District can manage projects of any size.

Location & Travel

You must be able to travel and relocate as frequently as business needs require. Projects are located primarily in the Great Lakes area, the DMV area, and the Northeast. Job assignment location will be determined closer to your start date.

Responsibilities
  • Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities
  • Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and resolve minor technical problems arising during construction
  • Maintain records of job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
  • Plan and schedule job and/or job segments
  • Investigate problems and/or reported incidents; identify and recommend solutions or alternatives as appropriate
  • Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements, pricing of materials, etc.
  • Work with suppliers to facilitate handling and expediting delivery of materials
Qualifications
  • Ability to travel or relocate as needed
  • Ability to work full‑time during the summer (approximately May–August)
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering, construction management or related fields
  • Comfortable accessing all points of a construction site in various climates and environments
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and initiative
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Passion for safety, and the ability to help ensure nobody gets hurt
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player who can work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

Base Compensation

$17.00/hr – $24.00/hr (actual compensation varies based on education, experience, skill set, and/or location).
